Just 5 stars isn’t enough! I know this sounds like an exaggeration but the whole experience at Casa Maria Luigia deserves its own category. ||The food, the rooms, the location, the amenities, the friendly staff, everything was beyond …
We visited Casa Maria Luigia on our honeymoon and had an unforgettable experience.
The service is on another level, extremely attentive while letting the guests unwind and relax. But also available when required.
The grounds are serene, quiet, and a wonderful break from the hustle of the city. The pool is wonderful for cooling off on a hot summer day, while the cottage is a cute spot to have a drink and read a book.
The rooms are wonderfully curated with interesting art and beautiful furnishings.
Our only negative is we wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you to everyone at Casa Maria Luigia for making part of our honeymoon perfect!
Casa Maria Luigia is quite simply the best place I’ve ever stayed in my life! When checking in, the staff emphasized that we should treat the hotel as our own home and that could not be more true. The level of service was exceptional and the dinner / brunch were both some of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! The grounds were breathtaking and Massimo’s Man Cave was awesome! Also, the balsamic vinegar tour was great and worth doing. I definitely want to come back!
This place is amazing! Located just outside of Modena in a perfectly restored old farm turned into a most modern and comfortable dwelling, it goes by one very unique and special philosophy : the owner Massimo Botturo, a Michelin star chef, …
Exceeded expectations. The spirits in the listening room and the help yourself snacks in the kitchen area were excellent surprises. Loved arriving to parmesan cheese in our room to snack on. Well appointed rooms, great bathrooms and the gym is better than the Ferrari museum. As you would expect, yes: It was the best breakfast I've had at a hotel.
Once-in-a-lifetime experience! If you see this, this is your sign to do it. It’s not just a dinner, it’s a show! Casa Maria Luigia offers travelling by tasting the most iconic dishes of the Osteria Francescana’s 28-year history.
9 course experience is 330/person (2023) + 150 for wine pairing (optional; 6 glasses, they top up when you finish your glass). It’s worth it.
Booking in advance (prepayment) online is needed (3 months before is best), but it’s possible to find a spot in the calendar 2 weeks in advance (keep checking, it’s changing).
The experience starts at 19:30. Before you start, I highly recommend doing a free tour at their Acetaia Maria Luigia (Modena’s balsamic vinegar cellar) which starts at 18:00 and is next door and it takes 1h. Advance booking online is needed. You can choose English/Italian.
Afterwards, check the ground floor of their hotel (Casa Maria Luigia) before the dinner - it’s just beautiful, tasteful art decorations. Take pictures. Then head to your main experience - THE DINNER.
There are 4 tables * 6 people. Ground floor. The seating is pre-organised in advance. The dinner is held in English, you can talk to staff in English/Italian.
We were fortunate enough to be greeted by Massimo’s wife Lara who introduced us to the experience and the first of his dishes in the very beginning. Then Massimo Bottura (!) arrived for 15-20min to introduce us to the other 3 dishes. He was happy to take pictures with everyone, chit-chat, answer questions and was in a very open and positive mood. He decorated one of the dishes (Lasagna) before they served it. Then he left for work in the other (main) Osteria.
My favorite dishes were Mont Saint Michel (oyster), Pasta al Pesto in Abstract (pasta non-pasta that tastes like pesto heaven), Beautiful Psychedelic Veal (colours, art and meat) and Surprise Surprise (it’s a surprise) at the end.
The service is top class. They literally rushed to help me with my chair every time I stood up to take pictures. Very friendly, courteous, kind, open to chat and laughs.
I think this is the best way to experience fine dining - in such an informal environment that feels like dining with the family. Well-done everyone!
A dream of a stay — the entire Casa Maria Luigia staff made sure we had an exceptional time, from an easy check in, to a stellar room, to the art and the grounds and the acetaia. Francescana at Casa Maria Luigia was a dream come true. A special shout out to Eduardo who, when he found out we were continuing our journey on to Parma, gave us a handwritten list of a dozen food recommendations.
Fabulous experience, visited to dine solo and it's the most relaxed fine dining experience ever. Delicious food of course! Spectacular surroundings too. Chef made an appearance and plated up too. Out of this world.
